This black form of tattooing is called, Jagua, and it's use originates from the tribal regions of South and Central America, near the rain forests. A Jagua tattoo is made from the juices of the tropical fruit called Genipa Americana, and has been used safely for centuries.

Especially if you have dark skin, Jagua is a perfect color to use for your body art, as this will show very nicely in contrast.

Please especially note that  Jagua is NOT so-called "black henna" (where black hair dye has been added to the henna.)  Henna is never black, and the dye that some artists put in their henna paste has a chemical called PPD that causes permanent scarring, and allergic reactions for a lifetime.  Please NEVER allow anyone to give you a "black  henna" tattoo.
